Child dies after being hit by motorcycle

A young child has died after being hit by a motorcycle west of Turangi this afternoon.

The accident, which happened around 2pm, occurred on State Highway 46 about 2km north of the intersection with SH47 near the central North Island town of Turangi.

Police were yet to advise next of kin.

The motorcyclist had minor injuries, police said.

Serious crash investigators were heading to the scene.
