KEY POINTS:
A South Auckland woman arrested by police investigating the death of three-year-old Dylan Rimoni for an earlier assault on the boy has had her bail continued.
Patricia Angela Pickering, 36, was bailed to a Pukekohe address when she appeared in Papakura District Court today.
She was facing a charge in court for the first time today of assaulting Dylan between January and April 2007, which police said was not immediately connected with the child's death.
Her bail conditions include not having any unsupervised access to children under 12.
She was remanded to reappear at a pre-depositions hearing at Papakura District Court on June 18.
Dylan died at Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland on April 18, two days after being admitted to hospital with unexplained head injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Lynch of Counties Manukau Police said inquries into the death were continuing.
He said it was expected to be some weeks before a decision was made as to whether further charges would be laid.
