Chief Ombudsman Dame Beverley Wakem is calling for submissions for an investigation into the way the Education Ministry conducts consultation on school closures and mergers.
Dame Beverley said she had already received submissions from the public, but was calling on others to make a submission by August 9.
"I have received a large amount of information from the Ministry of Education which my staff have been poring through and carefully assessing. I have also received some submissions from schools and the general public.''
Once submissions close, staff at the Office of the Ombudsman will interview schools in Christchurch in late August.
A provisional report will be released later this year and affected parties would have the opportunity to comment before it is finalised.
