The Hawke's Bay Regional Council has responsibility for the management of the natural resources of a region of over 14,000 square kilometres from mountains to coastline. The area supports a population of over 150,000 with main cities of Napier and Hastings. Key industries include farming, horticulture, wine and tourism.
With total operating revenue of $42 million and over 180 FTE staff, Council activities cover a wide range of regulatory and planning, biosecurity, emergency management, public transport and economic development activities. Council has a strong focus on achieving its regional goals of resilient communities, a resilient economy and resilient ecosystems by working closely and partnering with local authorities in the region, the community, Iwi and key stakeholders.
Candidates for this role will demonstrate strong leadership skills, proven ability to build enduring relationships and a future focused commercial orientation, Whilst a knowledge of regional or local government will be beneficial, we encourage candidates with commercial experience who are attracted to the challenges and opportunities that this unique role provides.
