Fifteen records have been broken in the pools at the Chanel College 2013 athletic sports and swim meet.
The annual swimming competition was held at the Genesis Energy Recreation Centre and college head of English Claire Hills said the record-breaking performances at the pools had thrilled students, teachers and spectators.
"We all love record breakers. It is their dedication to the sports that they love and their determination to strive for their 'personal bests' that lead to record-breaking performances."
"Congratulations to all our students who have participated in the athletic sports and the swimming sports of 2013. "Special congratulations to our record breakers. You provided that extra element of excitement that had the crowd roaring at the Athletic Sports and the Swimming Sports," Mrs Hills said.
A total of 15 records tumbled at the swimming sports, she said, with rising swimming star Amy Te Maro smashing five records in the U14 Girls category: The 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley.
Katie Craig enjoyed breaking three records in Over 16 Girls events, including the 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.
Sven Tobias, fresh back from the national swimming championships, broke three records in U16 boys events: 25m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.
Mrs Hills said the swimming meet ended on a high note with the crowd "screaming encouragement" in the medley relays where St Joseph's House broke the U14 girls record and Champagnat broke the U14 boys' record. St Brigid's House also had broken the Senior Girls Relay record by the end of competition.
