Checking for secrets

Researchers face delays in gaining access to papers of politicians held at Archives New Zealand.

The files will now be checked by Government Communications Security Bureau and Archives staff to ensure they do not contain any top-secret material.

The move follows the release of former Prime Minister David Lange's papers to the Sunday Star-Times that contained a file on spying activities.
