KEY POINTS:
Up to 30 medical students from Auckland University are being investigated for allegedly cheating, which could see an end to their medical careers.
Some of the students were believed to have faked patient details in a project on mothers and babies, The Sunday Star-Times reported.
The university launched an inquiry after a group of third-year medical students were reported by classmates.
Medical and Health Sciences faculty dean Professor Iain Martin said the university was taking the allegations "very seriously" and would investigate to determine whether the students needed to face its disciplinary committee.
He expected the investigation would be complete by the end of the academic year in early December.
