Carterton residents have a chance during the next six weeks to chat over a hot cuppa about social services and education in the town.
Lorraine Gittings, Carterton District Council community development manager, said a pilot "community hub" would run from 10am to 2pm each Friday at the Ron Wakelin Wing at the Carterton Events Centre. The six-week scheme, launched on Friday, comes on the heels of a successful community expo in the town last year.
"The [expo] organising group became aware that many Carterton people are concerned about lack of services available in Carterton. There were also concerns about access to information particularly around social services and education," Mrs Gittings said.
Coffee and tea will be available and Mrs Gittings said a focus would be placed on "issues around access to services, gaps in service and information.
"There will be listening ears and also assistance for you to be networked to the services you need."
