Donations to help buy "Baby Charlotte" new prosthetic legs have flooded in as sponsors also line up to promote a car-show fundraiser for her.
Charlotte Cleverley-Bisman lost her limbs as a baby to meningitis. Having grown out of her prosthetic legs, she has not been able to walk for the past three months and is now fundraising to get new legs, which cost just over $19,000.
Her story featured in the Weekend Herald.
Charlotte's father, Perry Bisman, said yesterday had been "a frantic day" spent answering phonecalls, replying to emails and fronting up for a television interview while Charlotte was suffering from a tummy bug.
"There have been offers flooding in. We're incredibly grateful to those people who have offered money for Charlotte."
Meanwhile, organisers of the Baby Charlotte Car Show - to be held at the North Shore Events Centre on February 27 - say they are fielding calls from all over the country from members of the public, small businesses and companies wanting to help.
Mitre 10, Supercheap Auto, Hasbro and A-Glaze New Zealand have all been confirmed as sponsors.
One of the organisers, Lindy Lawn, said that the phones had begun to jam.
"The phones have been ringing off the hook, they've been jammed. The feedback has been fantastic and we've had lots of support," Ms Lawn said.
"We've had calls from business types, retired pensioners and just ordinary people who want to put in even just a small donation for Charlotte.
"People really are digging deep."
