The diamond earrings specially crafted for Gemma Flynn to wear on the red carpet for fiance Richie McCaw's film have sold for $2,510.
The Grae Jewellery designed diamond and topaz leaf earrings were last night won in an auction on Trade Me by Dunedin trader Poppymolly.
The proceeds will be donated to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
An intense bidding war erupted between two buyers in the final minutes with the price jumping $150 in seven minutes. The $1 reserve auction closed at 9pm with 94 bids on the gems.
The earrings were designed as a collaboration between Grae designer Charmaine Williams and couturier Grace Millicent to complement the botanically inspired gown Gemma wore to the world premiere screening of Chasing Great.
