A charity is seeking crash victims to help pass on road safety messages to communities.
Road safety charity Brake is particularly looking for people who have been bereaved or seriously injured in a crash and who would be willing to share their story and help others to learn from theirexperiences.
Volunteers would be asked to provide a case study of their experience and to provide quotes and/or give interviews to media during road safety week in support of safety messages, Brake's New Zealand director Caroline Perry said.
The week's theme will be "Look out for kids, focusing on protecting some of our most vulnerable road users, children" and it will run from May 4 to May 10.
"Every death on the road is a tragedy," Ms Perry said.
"The number of road deaths is decreasing overall, but we are a long way from achieving zero deaths and serious injuries on roads. People affected by crashes have a vital part to play in helping to communicate key messages about staying safe on roads.
"Sharing your experiences makes others stop and think about the devastating effects of a road crash. If you think you could share your story please contact Brake."
People interested in being involved in the project could contact Ms Perry on 021 407 953 or email brakecharity@gmail.com.
