A man who threatened a woman at his Hamilton home yesterday is facing four charges over the domestic dispute and further charges are likely, police say.
The man, believed to be aged in his forties, was arrested at a Tomin Rd address about 10.15am.
Police forced entry into the house and were confronted by the man allegedly threatening the woman.
"When he threatened to shoot her the unarmed officers backed off to await the arrival of armed reinforcements, and those officers saw the woman flee to safety a short time later," said Detective Sergeant Daryl Smith.
A girl, believed to be the couple's daughter, aged about 10, had also left the house before police arrived.
