Hamilton police are still considering laying charges against a man after two young children were left in a hot car. They are also seeking a woman who helped with first aid.
The grandfather, understood to be 59 years old, left the two children in the car at The Base Shopping Centre on Sunday as he went inside to get takeaways.
Concerned members of the public saw the children in the car and were able to unlock the car because one of the windows had been left partially down and removed them from the car.
The children were "very hot", police said at the time.
Detective Sergeant Terri Wilson of the Hamilton City Child Protection Team today said they had spoken to witnesses and were now searching for a woman who first helped the pre-schoolers.
