Two Upper Hutt men have been charged with an assault near a Wellington service station last weekend and will appear in court on Wednesday.
Police arrested the two men, aged 20 and 25, in connection with an assault near the BP in Taranaki Street.
They are jointly charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The 20-year-old also faces a charge of possession of an offensive weapon while the other man is charged with dangerous driving.
Detective Sergeant Shane Dye said the arrests followed a fight which began at the service station between two carloads of people just after 1am on Sunday.
"One of the vehicles is alleged to have then driven the wrong way down Wakefield Street, followed by a concerned member of the public, who was then hit with a weapon," Mr Dye said.
The two men are to appear in the Wellington District Court.
