A man has been arrested in relation to an attack on a good Samaritan who stopped to help a pedestrian on Friday night and was attacked and kidnapped in his own vehicle.
A 35-year-old Lower Hutt man will appear in court today charged with assault, robbery and kidnapping.
Detective Sergeant Mike Sears, of the Lower Hutt CIB, said the 66-year-old victim stopped to assist a pedestrian in Stokes Valley about 11.30pm, and was then threatened and assaulted. The attacker then detained the motorist and drove him around the Hutt Valley before abandoning him in Moera.
