Central Wellington fire under control

A two-storey fire in a central Wellington building is under control, a Fire Service spokesman said today.

The fire, in a street near Wellington's Basin Reserve cricket ground, began shortly after 4am and was attended by 11 appliances.

There were no casualties, and fire officers were now investigating the cause.
