A two car crash in central Wellington has damaged the lights system leaving police to manually control traffic.
The incident happened at the intersection of State Highway 1 Taranaki and Buckle St.
One of the cars struck traffic lights causing major damage to the traffic control system, said police.
Those involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
Police staff are on scene manually controlling traffic but large delays are expected until the lights can be restored and motorists are urged to avoid this road and surrounding roads where possible.
