Confusion over just where Queen Elizabeth Park starts and ends and if it incorporates Masterton Cemetery continues to dog residents.
But things look to be finally on the improve.
Masterton District Council, immersed in a wrangle with residents pressing for the return of the old Archer St entrance and gates to the cemetery, is now likely to replace a sign that wrongly names the cemetery as being part of the park.
Council chief executive Wes ten Hove has confirmed the correct name of the cemetery is simply Masterton Cemetery not Masterton Park Cemetery or the alternative names by which it is colloquially known such as Archer St Cemetery and Pioneer Cemetery.
It is thought the name Archer St Cemetery gained momentum when Riverside Park Cemetery was developed in the 1980s, to clearly distinguish the two cemeteries one from the other.
