Celtic Marist were the big losers in Netball Wairarapa's premier one competition over the weekend.
Strongly favoured to beat cellar dwellers Carterton Sports Arena and claim a semi-final spot in the process, Celtic Marist failed to live up to expectations and were beaten 47-41.
It was a crucial loss for Celtic Marist as with Kuranui College upsetting Gladstone All Blacks 41-38 it meant they were eliminated from semi-final contention.
Kuranui's victory saw them finish the top six round on 9pts, one more than Celtic Marist.
Just ahead of the students on 10pts was Gladstone All Blacks with the first two semi-final seedings going to Harcourts (20pts) and St Matthews Collegiate (14pts).
Those two sides also clashed in the latest series of matches and while Harcourts maintained their unbeaten record it was a close thing, just one goal separating the two sides.
Harcourts won 45-44.
