Celtic player-coach Perri Tatana-Williams concedes her team could prove hard to follow in this season's Netball Wairarapa premier one competition
It's not that Tatana-Williams lacks confidence in the ability of her players to challenge for the title a rather different Celtic squad won a couple of seasons back. More that while she has a sizeable squad to pick from and most are available on an irregular basis.
"Getting players on the court often enough to strike up good combinations is going to be the problem," Tatana-Williams said.
"We'll probably have at least a few changes from week-to-week and that's going to make it tough."
In Hope Phillips and Kelly Te Whare Celtic have two of the best shooters in the premier one while others sure to make their presence felt include Kerawai Tatana,, Kiri Reeves and Janeen Tupaea, who is also coaching Makoura College's premier one side.
Last weekend saw Celtic scrape home over one of the new teams in the top grade, Martinborough, with Tatana-Williams impressed with Martinborough's effort to suggest they will be a force to reckon with as the season progresses.
"It was only in the shooting where we had the edge, without that we could have been in trouble," she said.
Another of the premier one newcomers in Trevs I plays Celtic at the Colombo road courts tomorrow and Tatana-Williams admits knowing little about them.
"We won't be taking anything for granted, not at all."
Defending champions Harcourts are also fielding a new look team this season but they should still have the wood on Wairarapa College A while Pioneer Blue should make it two from two when they meet Carterton New World.
The Makoura A v St Matthew's A and Baywide Gladstone v Martinborough games could go either way.
