High-tech tracking has been used to find a woman who overdosed on drugs.
Police said the distressed woman, 41, called a relative on her cellphone and told her she had taken an overdose of her medication and was in an Auckland motel.
"As the medication took effect, contact with the woman was lost," said Inspector Andy Brill.
He said the cellphone company checked the calls and provided the general area where the woman might be.
Extra police patrols were sent to the Newmarket area to check parks, walkways and motels and her car was found.
The woman was found soon after and she was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
