A woman who got lost running while running in bush near Bluff was able to contact friends of her plight by cellphone before her battery died.
But police search and rescue volunteers still had a bit of work to do to find the 33-year-old. The woman's friends called Invercargill police at 7.25pm.
"Contact with the missing person was lost when her cellphone battery died," police said.
Twelve search volunteers from Invercargill LandSAR and amateur radio emergency communications groups, along with police, were involved in the search.
