Newsreader Bernadine Oliver-Kerby married Mark Lendrum in a private ceremony at the Mudbrick cafe on Waiheke Island - without the usual celebrity entourage.
Few of the former Silver Fern's TVNZ or Newstalk ZB colleagues were invited to the winery nuptials, when, under a cloudless sky on Friday, Oliver-Kerby and her partner were wed.
Lendrum works in the police and flies the Eagle helicopter.
The couple met through mutual friends at a touch rugby game.
The bride looked elegant in a traditional strapless, white, hand-beaded gown and flowing veil, designed by a close friend. The two bridesmaids wore black.
Guests were asked not to talk to the media.
The Mudbrick cafe manager said staff were asked to sign confidentiality agreements.
TVNZ colleague Tony Veitch, who was not one of those invited, said:
"Bernadine was anally protective" about details surrounding the wedding.
It was reported the couple were selling their story to a women's magazine - which is understood to be New Idea - for an undisclosed sum.
However, under TVNZ's new management rules, presenters are no longer allowed to sell stories pertaining to their private lives to the media.
TVNZ spokeswoman Zara Potts said Oliver-Kerby had not sold her story, but confirmed she had received money from a magazine to provide "security services" at the wedding.
Potts said security was necessary as "the Herald on Sunday had released the details of the wedding".
In exchange for paying for security at the wedding, the magazine received access to exclusive pictures of the bride and groom and their attendants.
The Herald on Sunday understands a security company was not employed.
Instead, Mudbrick staff were on hand checking off the names of the guests at the driveway entrance before letting cars through.
