Ordinary Kiwis who have done extraordinary things in their communities will be celebrated at this year's Pride of New Zealand Awards ceremony tonight.
The awards - sponsored by the Herald, The Hits and TSB Bank and now in their second year - recognise unsung heroes from around the country working to make their communities better.
There are six categories: community spirit, bravery & heroism, emergency services, fundraiser of the year, environment and the lifetime achievement award.
A people's choice award, sponsored by TSB Bank, will also be announced tonight and the winner of that will receive $10,000 from the bank.
Thousands of nominations were received over the past few months and regional winners were chosen in Auckland, Tauranga, Christchurch and Hastings last month.
