They say his disappearance is out of character and they are not considering foul play at this stage.
The student who was last seen in a nightclub at about 3am on Sunday was asked to leave the club because he was drunk, the club says.
Mandeep Singh, 20, a culinary arts student from India, was out with three flatmates who lost contact with him in the Bungalow 8 nightclub at Viaduct Harbour.
Richard McCabe, general manager of Showcase Hospitality which owns Bungalow 8, said closed-circuit TV footage shows that Mr Singh left the club in the early hours of Sunday morning.
"He was showing signs of intoxication and was therefore asked to leave," he said.
"We are co-operating with the police and have provided them with video footage from our CCTV cameras which shows him leaving the building of his own accord and remaining outside the bar for a further 20 minutes.
"As you can imagine, this is a very distressing time for the young man's family. We are co-operating with the police in their investigations and we are not able to comment about the matter."
Mr Singh's friends lost cellphone contact with him about 3.20am.
He did not turn up to his work at Cafe Melba on Sunday or to his culinary arts course at the Cornell Institute of Business and Technology on Monday.
Ramandeeb Bajwa, whose wife Sweety is Mandeep Singh's cousin, said his parents live in India and the family had been calling them multiple times a day.
"It was a sleepless night," he said.
Mr Singh was wearing a blue collared shirt, blue jeans and black and white shoes when he went missing, police said.
He was described as slim build, with brown hair and brown eyes and around 5'8" tall.
He arrived in Auckland on a student visa in February.
