Closed-circuit television footage has not offered any insights into the investigation of events which led to the assault of TV3 sports presenter Clint Brown, Taupo police say.
Sergeant Tony Jeurissen said nothing of consequence was revealed from the CCTV footage police inspected as part of the investigation into Mr Brown's assault on Wednesday September 13.
The cameras operated randomly on a Wednesday night and were not pointed at the area when it happened.
"The alleged assault and the abuse had already occurred by the time the police were called," Mr Jeurissen said.
Police actively monitor the cameras on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and only do so during the week if they knew something is going on, Mr Jeurissen said.
Mr Brown has been stood down from work while TV3 investigates claims he racially abused a Maori taxi driver and other members of the public before being assaulted.
Both police and TV3 investigations are continuing.
