Firefighters neutralised 500 litres of liquid caustic soda after it leaked from a damaged container in Napier today.
Hawke's Bay assistant area commander Allan Bamber told NZPA the spill this morning happened at the premises of Hooker-Pacific Transport in Edmundsen Street, a light industrial area in suburban Onekawa.
Firefighters used citric acid to neutralise the caustic soda, and no one was hurt, he said.
