Investigations are set to continue into the blaze on board a tourist vessel just off Whakatane.
The Transport Accident Investigation Commission says investigators will continue looking into what caused the PeeJay V, returning from the White Island volcano with 60 people on board, to catch fire on Monday afternoon.
Two investigators were on the job today and are expected to continue with their assessments tomorrow.
They have so far interviewed the boat's crew and local Coast Guard personnel involved in the rescue, and reviewed video and photos taken during the operation.
Debris that washed up onshore from the PeeJay V was also documented for later assessment.
