One person has been airlifted to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition after a truck rolled on their car north of Wellsford late this afternoon.
A second person sustained minor injuries in the incident on State Highway One, between Mill Rd and Oruawharo Rd after 4pm, St John ambulance service shift manager Ptrece Gosney-Payne said.
The truck was laden with livestock, which also spilled onto the road during the collision, police confirmed.
It is thought some of the animals may also have been injured.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident, Inspector Shawn Rutene said.
