KEY POINTS:
The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland, where Sir Edmund Hillary's state funeral was held, will mark the first anniversary of his death on Sunday.
The cathedral and neighbouring St Mary's Church were packed last January as thousands paid their respects to one of the most famous and treasured New Zealanders.
It is customary for the names of people whose funerals are held at the cathedral to be included as part of the prayers of the church on the anniversary. Sir Ed's Garter Banner, given when he was made a Knight of the Garter and taken down from St George's Chapel in England on his death, is on display at St Mary's.
