Black Cat Cruises is to examine whether an electrical fault caused one of its catamarans to smash into rocks at Akaroa Harbour, injuring seven tourists.
The 20m ferry was carrying 31 passengers on a two-hour tour of the harbour on Sunday when it hit rocks at Seal Bay after manoeuvring close to the shore to allow passengers to see seals.
All passengers were refunded the $45 cost of the trip.
