Police were taking no chances when a van laden with thousands of dollars flipped over on a country road yesterday.
The Armourguard van was travelling between Palmerston North and Masterton when the crash occurred on Makomako Rd, about 14km from Pahiatua, at 9.30am.
Armed police surrounded
the van as the money was moved into another vehicle.
Constable Andrew Charles, of Pahiatua police, said a gust of wind caught the van but the driver over-corrected and drove through a fence.
The occupants were not injured.
"They're a bit different from your normal vehicle, there wasn't much damage."
