You're never too old to enjoy a good game of Scrabble, says Carterton mayor John Booth.
Mr Booth attended the first of Carterton Library's weekly adult "gaming days", where members of the community can play board games, jigsaws and other puzzle activities.
The mayor got into the spirit of the occasion, playing a game of Upwords (similar to Scrabble, but with building blocks) with Carterton Information Centre volunteer Naomi Oliver.
The gaming sessions were the brainchild of district librarian Anne Hughes, and were set up to help adults de-stress by getting in touch with their inner child.
People can partake in board games, such as Cranium, Rummikub and Mah Jong, as well as jigsaws, Sudoko, and colouring in exercises.
