Wairarapa connection made its presence felt in the masters 65-69yrs grade at the national cross country championships held at Rabbit Island in the Nelson region.
A former member of the Carterton club in John Caughley who now runs out of the Port hills club in Christchurch clocked a respectable 38mins 33secs for the 8km while current Carterton member Ray Wallis finished in 40mins 22secs.
Taking first place in that grade was J.Wood of Valleys United in 32mins 59secs from W.Hume of Canterbury in 34mins 52secs.
