A new plan to promote business and economic growth in Carterton is set for action with the appointment of an economic development ambassador for the district.
Jo Wisler has been appointed to the new part-time role, which was created as part of the council's recently developed economic development strategy that aims to encourage business growth, create jobs, increase income, attract investment and promote Carterton as a commuter hub.
Having worked as an estate agent in Carterton for the past 10 years, Mrs Wisler was an integral part of setting up Carterton Business District Incorporated and is passionate about contributing to the district's future.
"I am really excited about this opportunity as it gives me the opportunity to sell Carterton," she said on accepting the role. "I love this community as it has real heart and soul."
She will be responsible for carrying out the action plan developed as part of the economic development strategy, reporting to the council's economic development working group comprising councillors Greg Lang, Russell Keys and Jill Greathead.
