Carterton's three police officers and their families have been given round-the-clock protection as the hunt continues for the gunman who shot at a constable.
The shot was fired through the lounge window of Constable Peter Cunningham, 48, on Thursday night.
His wife and two teenage children were in bed at the time.
They have been moved out of Carterton.
