Carterton swimmers were on fire at the Xcelerate carnival held at Taupo last weekend.
A team of nine - eight boys and one girl - returned home with a stunning medal count, 43 gold, eight silver and 12 bronze, and, understandably, delighted coach Russell Geange with their remarkable success rate.
Two of the Carterton contingent, Zachary Hullah (boys 10yrs) and Jacob Smith (boys 16yrs and over) collected most points in their age groups while Oliver Hammond was third in the boys 11yrs division, Sam Hammond runner-up in the boys 14yrs grade and Nick Smith second and Sam Smith third in the boys 16yrs and over division.
Hullah also broke the under-12 boys Wairarapa 50m backstroke record, which had stood for six years.
