Former Labour MP Chris Carter will know his future with the party tonight.
Mr Carter is this evening meeting with the National Council of the Labour Party to answer to disciplinary action that could see him expelled from the party.
He was expelled from the Labour caucus in July after a bungled attempt to undermine Phil Goff's leadership.
Arriving at the meeting in Wellington this evening, Mr Carter said he was "looking forward to giving a robust discussion about why I should remain a member of the Labour Party.
"I still support Labour and I hope that I will retain my membership."
When asked if he was confident, Mr Carter said, "Who knows, you never can be sure. I have a lot of confidence that I have a good record to talk about."
Last week, Mr Carter announced he was withdrawing his candidacy for contesting the Te Atatu electorate for Labour.
