KEY POINTS:
Plans are under way to open another of Dan Carter's GAS clothing stores in Auckland but fans wanting a piece of the star All Black's fashion style will have to wait a little while yet.
The All Black, who chose retail therapy to get over the quarter- final loss to France by opening another GAS store in Wellington over the weekend, has been surveying potential sites in Auckland, said his business partner, Rhys Brooking.
Mr Brooking, who co-owns the business with Carter and Lucy Scandrett, said they were considering sites in Newmarket but the Auckland store was unlikely to open until next year.
The trio opened their first GAS store, which imports high-end denim wear from Italy, in Christchurch last year.
The news pleased Cameron Brewer, general manager of the Newmarket Business Association who thought Carter was setting himself up for more heartache following the Rugby World Cup by choosing Wellington over Auckland.
"He needs to be somewhere trendy like Newmarket, where there's plenty of discerning shoppers and discretionary dollars," he said. "In central Wellington there are too many civil servants with taste limited to their mouths."
Mr Brewer said the association would make it their business over the coming months to find the All Black a site in Newmarket that would be too good to resist.
