Three cars were involved in a back-to-back crash early this morning as they swerved to avoid power lines bought down by another crashed car.
The first car crashed into a power pole on Mt Albert Road in Auckland about 5am, a police spokesman said.
One person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Then three other cars crashed back to back as they tried to avoid the fallen power lines, he said.
Meanwhile, earlier in the night a truck and trailer went down a bank in the Karangahake Gorge between Paeroa and Waihi.
