"Of course, that was before the kids." It might be one of the most common lines trotted out by new parents determined to hang on to the final vestiges of a child-free life.
But Auckland mum Corinne Homer and her Wellington sister Michelle Bush are determined to carry on clubbing - and to do it with the kids.
Yesterday, they launched the first New Zealand-based Baby Love Disco in Auckland's Viaduct.
About 250 mothers, fathers and children paid $15 each to spend three hours dancing to tunes from acts as diverse as the Jackson Five and Lady Gaga.
Turning nightclub Bungalow 8 into a child-friendly zone came after Homer began looking into a disco party for her daughter Lulu, 3.
She found an international brand - Baby Loves Disco - and negotiated to run it here.
Yesterday, children danced while parents drank cocktails. The decision to serve alcohol was deliberate. "In Auckland central, kids are used to this. Our kids go to cafes and have a fluffy. They're in that culture," said Homer.
