The Mahunga club was fairly quiet over the weekend, with several members competing in Christmas tournaments at the Carterton, Castlepoint and Riversdale clubs on Saturday, and the Masterton Citizens and Services Club's event on Sunday at Masterton.
The Saturday competition at home was a medal round, which saw Damian Carroll at the top with a 64 nett, which was one better than Terry Fleet, while Paul Croft was third on 67. Holes in two were scored by Damian Carroll, Daniel Towgood and Quentin Henderson, who scored two of them.
Sunday's competition was a stableford round, with Bruce Herangi the winner with 37 points, with Kevin May next best on 34. No holes in two were scored.
On Tuesday, the veterans wrapped up their competitions for the year with a putting competition. The winner was Meki Lauvi with 25 putts, just one better than Ray Loader, Ross Ireland, Doug Simpson and Yvonne Allsworth.
On Saturday, Mahunga holds its Christmas Stableford tournament. It will have a shotgun start at midday.
Sunday is a stableford round.
While the club is winding down to Christmas, competition will burst into life on Monday, December 27, with the first day of the Carterton Mahunga two-day tournament at Carterton. This final day on December 28 is at Mahunga.
Then there is the Mahunga two-day veterans tournament on January 6 and 7, with the tee-off on both days starting at 10am.
A little further away is the club's Team Play tournament, which is played over 54 holes on Wellington Anniversary Weekend, with the Fourball round on the Saturday, an Ambrose round on Sunday morning and the Foursomes in the afternoon.
