Thomas Henry Owen, 55, has lost his appeal against a two months sentence for a horrific dog attack which left 7-year-old Carolina Anderson disfigured.
His friend, Brian Clarke Hill, 44, abandoned his appeal and surrendered himself to Mt Eden prison to serve his time last month.
The pair had pleaded guilty to a joint charge of owning a dog that caused serious injury to the child.
In dismissing Owen's appeal at the High Court in Auckland, Justice John Priestley said the district court judge was "right on target" with the two-month term.
