The man charged with murdering Auckland woman Carmen Thomas made a brief appearance in court yesterday.
Brad Callaghan, 32, is accused of killing his former partner, whose dismembered body was found inside plastic containers in the Waitakere Ranges, west Auckland, in October last year.
Callaghan, an Auckland structural engineer, has been in custody since his arrest a month earlier, following a more than two month police investigation.
He appeared via video link in Auckland District Court today and was told he had 28 days to file an alibi, should he choose to include one in his evidence.
He will appear again on May 25.
