Police today questioned businesses in downtown Auckland in the hunt for clues to the slaying of Carmen Thomas.
Ms Thomas was reported missing in July and police believe that she was murdered and her body concealed.
It was reported yesterday they were looking at digging up concrete laid by construction firm Manson at Victoria St, in the central city.
Officers spent part of this morning visiting premises in Victoria St asking owners if they had seen anything suspicious and if they had any CCTV footage from July 1.
Police at the weekend confirmed they had found Ms Thomas' recycling wheelie bin which they had been searching for as part of the investigation.
Spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the bin was being forensically tested.
Ms Thomas was reported missing on July 13 when she failed to collect her five-year-old son, Jack, who had been staying with friends.
There have been no confirmed sightings of her since June 27, her bank accounts had not been touched, and she had not contacted family or friends.
Inquiry head Detective Inspector Mark Benefield said last month that police were looking for a killer after blood was found in Ms Thomas' car, which was abandoned on a Hamilton street.
