The founder of Carich computer training company is considering legal action against the Tertiary Education Commission after receivers announced a liquidation of the firm's assets yesterday.
The company went into voluntary receivership a week ago with debts of more than $5 million and receivers have been battling since to refinance or find sufficient buyers for its sites or business.
Carich founder Caron Taurima said she blamed the commission for "blocking" her attempts to trade her way out of financial difficulties.
A spokesman for the receivers, KPMG partner Kerryn Downey, said negotiations with the commission to recover money due to Carich were proceeding. He also announced that the NZ Institute of Studies had bought Carich's 150-student business school, Ascent.
