Career diplomat and former head of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce, Philip Lewin, died suddenly in Dunedin yesterday morning.
A Dunedin police spokeswoman said the 48-year-old was found at 6.30am.
Mr Lewin headed the Chamber of Commerce from 2001 to 2004 and was chief executive of the economic development agency Positively Wellington Business from 2005 to June 2007.
He was also a deputy director of trade negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and had postings to Melbourne, Moscow, Geneva and Washington.
