So you don't have a spare million sitting around? Your Lotto numbers didn't come in for you last night?
Never mind, the waterfront bach need not be a fading memory: there are still holiday homes available for those on a budget.
At Papamoa Village Park, a static caravan is for sale at $69,000.
Described on the Harcourts website as a "cottage on wheels", it has two bedrooms and is firmly ensconced 500m from Papamoa Beach.
"It's cheap and it's affordable," said Harcourts marketing consultant Robert Boyes.
The aluminium caravan and awning includes a kitchen, living room, toilet, shower and heatpump.
However, this slice of Kiwi paradise is only available to those approaching retirement, said Boyes.
You need to be over 55 to buy it as it sits in the retirement section of the park.
On top of the $69,000 purchase price, a buyer would pay an additional $115 a week to cover water, rates and maintenance and pay for electricity separately.
At the same holiday park, a 40sqm 'Sunshine Home' is for sale for $60,000. The weatherboard property, also only on offer to those over 50, includes a double bedroom, deck, patio, and garden sheds.
