A window was smashed and a front seat passenger attacked in a shocking case of road rage during rush hour in Wellington this morning.
Commuters on one of the capital's busiest central city streets were left stunned when three men got out of a car and started to punch a person sitting inside a vehicle.
Police say they received a number of calls from people in a bus travelling down Courtenay Place who witnessed the violence erupt alongside them around 7.45am.
A spokeswoman said three people were seen getting out of a vehicle and approaching a car. One of the group punched through a window of another vehicle and struck the passenger seated inside.
It was unclear what the sparked the outburst, she said.
