A motorist was forced to hand over his car after he was threatened on the forecourt of a service station in a spate of violent robberies across Auckland.
Police say the victim had just pulled up on the forecourt of the Z Energy in Manurewa around 3am when he was accosted by a man.
The driver of the vehicle was threatened before the man made off with the car.
Just half an hour later the Caltex Bombay was targeted by robbers, with cigarettes and cash stolen from the service station.
Police said there was also an early morning robbery at a dairy in central downtown Auckland with two people entering the Victoria St shop and stealing cash and chocolates.
